need advice about financial assistance for serious operation

Postby staffylover » Thu Mar 08, 2007 2:41 pm

Hi everyone, :-D

My boyfriend and I rescued a staffy from wood green animal shelter last april and we were warned he had a potential ear problem such as otitis or a polyp. We checked with our vet before we took him and they said it would cost a couple of hundred pounds to resolve - no problem so we took him home. Wood Green gave us insurance but it excludes his ear as 'pre-existing medical condition'.

After seeing our vet on numerous occasions and having rizla under anaesthetic on 2 occasions it has come to light that he has a serious and active polyp deep in his ear. :(

As a result we need to find £800 for him to have a BULLAE
OSTEOSTOMY
to completely remove the polyp. Any other procedure will involve snipping a part of the polyp off but it grows back. With a bullae osteostomy his ear canal will be removed and therefore no re-growth can occur.

We are in real financial difficulty as i am now a mature student at uni so the 2nd income has gone and so we are trying to find some financial assistance to help us out with some of the money.

We need £400 upfront which is the hardest part and the rest as £100 a month.

Blue Cross and RSPCA won't help becuase we arent claiming benefits and aren't eligible to, tailwaggers say their funds are low and wood green's won't help. :(

If anyone has any ideas or advice on any organisation that will help or any ideas for how i can raise some money for his op i would be so so so grateful.
